How to Install an eSIM on Android
Complete installation guide for Android 10 and higher
Installing your IbiPoint eSIM on Android is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through every step, from opening your delivery email to enabling data roaming and verifying your connection.
Most customers complete installation in under three minutes. Let’s get started.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- Your device is Android 10 or higher
- Your device is eSIM compatible (most modern Android phones from 2020+ support eSIM)
- You have a stable Wi-Fi connection (keep Wi-Fi ON during installation)
- You have received the IbiPoint eSIM email with your QR code and activation link
Method 1: Quick Installation (Recommended)
This is the fastest and easiest method if you receive the email on your Android device.
Step 1: Open Email on Your Android Device
Open the IbiPoint eSIM delivery email directly on your Android phone. Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
Step 2: Tap the Installation Button
Tap the button labeled “Install eSIM on Android 10+”. Your device will automatically detect the eSIM profile and the eSIM installer will launch automatically.
Step 3: Follow On-Screen Instructions
Your phone will show the eSIM installation wizard. You’ll see the profile name: IbiPoint eSIM. Tap “Download” or “Add” to confirm the installation. Wait for the installation to complete (usually 10-30 seconds).
Step 4: Name Your eSIM (Optional)
You can give your eSIM a custom label like “Travel Data” or “IbiPoint”. This helps you identify it later if you have multiple SIM cards. Tap “Done” when finished.
Installation complete. Now proceed to “Configuring Your eSIM for Data” below.
Method 2: QR Code Installation (Alternative)
If the quick installation doesn’t work, or you prefer manual installation:
Step 1: Access SIM Settings
Navigate to your eSIM settings (paths may vary by manufacturer):
For most Android devices:
For Samsung devices:
For Google Pixel:
Step 2: Scan QR Code
- Select “Add eSIM” or “Add mobile plan”
- Choose “Scan QR code”
- Point your camera at the QR code in the IbiPoint email
- Make sure the QR code is clearly visible and well-lit
Step 3: Confirm Installation
- Review the eSIM profile details
- Tap “Download” or “Activate”
- Wait for installation to complete
Configuring Your eSIM for Data
After installation, you need to configure the eSIM to use mobile data:

- While still in the IbiPoint eSIM settings
- Find “Roaming” or “Data Roaming”
- Toggle it ON
- If you see a warning, tap “OK” or “Allow” — this is normal for travel eSIMs
Your IbiPoint eSIM is now active and ready to use.
When to Enable Data Roaming
You have two options:
Option A: Enable Before You Travel (Recommended)
- Install the eSIM at home with Wi-Fi

- The eSIM will connect within 1-2 minutes
Verifying Your Connection

- Data indicator (4G, LTE, 5G, or H+)
Test your connection: Open your browser and visit any website. If it loads, you’re connected!
Get Your Transparency Link
Once online, IbiPoint will automatically send you an email containing:

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my Android phone support eSIM?
Most Android phones from 2020 onwards support eSIM. Your device must run Android 10 or higher. Popular eSIM-compatible models include Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and most modern flagship devices from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Oppo.
When should I enable data roaming?
You can enable data roaming before you travel or after you arrive. Installing the eSIM at home and enabling roaming before departure means you’ll be online immediately when you land. If you prefer, you can wait and enable roaming at your destination — the eSIM will connect within 1-2 minutes.
Why won’t my eSIM QR code scan?
If the QR code won’t scan, try increasing screen brightness to maximum, cleaning your camera lens, holding your phone steady at arm’s length, or adjusting the distance until the code is in focus. Alternatively, use the one-tap installation link in your email instead of scanning the QR code.
Can I use my regular SIM and eSIM at the same time?
Yes! Most Android phones support 1 physical SIM and 1 eSIM simultaneously. Your original SIM stays active for calls and texts, while the IbiPoint eSIM handles mobile data. You can switch between them in Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs.
What if my eSIM doesn’t connect after installation?
First, verify that Data Roaming is enabled and the IbiPoint eSIM is set as your mobile data line. Then try toggling Airplane Mode on for 15 seconds and off again. If still not working, restart your device. These steps resolve most connection issues.
